How is electric screwdriver motor life tested?
Electric screwdriver motor life is tested by running the motor through repeated operating cycles under defined load, speed, and temperature conditions until the target life is reached.
We recommend testing:
Loaded operating cycles: run the screwdriver under realistic torque instead of only testing the motor with no load
Forward and reverse operation: simulate normal fastening and screw-removal use
Multiple speed and torque levels: especially for multi-stage electric screwdrivers
Continuous operating time: check whether the motor can maintain stable performance during extended use
Temperature rise: monitor the motor, PCB, battery, and gearbox for abnormal heating
Current draw: compare electrical current before, during, and after endurance testing
Speed retention: verify that RPM remains within the required range
Torque retention: confirm the motor can still deliver the specified output after long-term use
Noise and vibration: check for increased bearing noise, imbalance, or internal wear
Brush wear: for brushed motors, inspect carbon-brush wear and commutator condition
Bearing condition: check for looseness, abnormal friction, or increased runout
Restart performance: verify that the motor still starts reliably after repeated cycles
Post-test inspection: inspect the motor, gearbox, bearings, wiring, and internal components for wear or damage
For a meaningful motor-life test, buyers should define the working torque, duty cycle, running time, rest interval, ambient temperature, target operating hours or cycles, and pass/fail criteria before testing.
