How much vibration is acceptable in a mini rotary tool?
There is no single universal vibration limit that applies to every mini rotary tool. Acceptable vibration depends on the motor speed, accessory, collet, bearing system, tool weight, and test method.
For production quality control, we recommend setting a vibration limit under fixed conditions:
Use the same RPM for every test
Use the same reference accessory or test rod
Measure at the same position on the tool body
Record RMS and peak vibration values
Compare production units with the approved golden sample
Check low, medium, and maximum speed levels
Inspect any sudden vibration increase at a specific RPM
Repeat the test after endurance or aging testing
A good mini rotary tool should run smoothly without obvious hand vibration, abnormal noise, or resonance. If vibration increases significantly at high speed, the factory should check the shaft, collet, bearings, motor balance, and runout.
For precision applications such as jewelry polishing, electronics repair, engraving, and model making, vibration requirements should be stricter because even small movement can affect accuracy and surface finish.
For ToolQeen rotary tool projects, we recommend defining the maximum vibration value together with RPM, test position, accessory, and runout requirement before mass production, rather than using a vibration number without test conditions.
