What is an AQL inspection for electric screwdrivers?
An AQL inspection is a statistical sampling inspection used to decide whether a batch of electric screwdrivers should be accepted or rejected before shipment.
Instead of checking every unit, the inspector selects a sample from the production lot and checks it against the agreed quality standard.
For electric screwdrivers, the inspection normally covers:
Appearance: scratches, color, logo, coating, and assembly quality
Function: forward/reverse, buttons, display, LED, and automatic stop
Torque: verify the required electric torque levels
Speed: check RPM and operating stability
Runout: check for excessive bit or shaft wobble
Battery: charging, voltage, runtime, and battery condition
Motor and gearbox: noise, vibration, heat, and smooth operation
Bit set: sizes, quantity, material, hardness, and tip accuracy
Accessories: cables, extension shafts, manuals, and other included parts
Packaging: retail box, case, barcode, labels, and outer carton
Defects are normally divided into:
Critical defects: safety hazards or serious compliance problems
Major defects: failures that affect normal product use
Minor defects: cosmetic or small workmanship issues that do not significantly affect function
For most electric screwdriver orders, a common starting point is General Inspection Level II, with Critical defects at zero tolerance, Major defects at AQL 2.5, and Minor defects at AQL 4.0. Premium or professional products may use stricter limits.
AQL inspection should not replace dedicated reliability testing. Important characteristics such as torque accuracy, battery performance, gearbox life, aging, and safety may require separate tests.
