How long should electric screwdrivers be aging-tested?
There is no single mandatory aging time for every electric screwdriver. The correct aging period depends on the motor, gearbox, battery, torque, duty cycle, and target application.
For mass-produced precision electric screwdrivers, a practical factory aging program is typically 2–4 hours of intermittent operation, combined with functional checks before and after aging.
During aging, we recommend checking:
Forward and reverse operation
All torque and speed levels
Automatic stop function
Motor and gearbox noise
Temperature rise
Battery discharge and charging
Torque consistency
Speed stability
Buttons, display, and LED functions
Abnormal vibration or mechanical wear
For a new model, new motor, gearbox, PCB, or battery, several hours of factory aging alone is not enough. The product should also undergo longer cycle-life and endurance testing under realistic load conditions.
IEC 62841-2-2 specifically covers hand-held electric screwdrivers and includes endurance requirements, so compliance endurance testing should be treated separately from routine factory aging.
